Budget deal...can our representatives even do math?

12/15/2013

The new budget deal is basically allowing our government to increase spending this year with the promise of reducing the deficit by a little over $20 billion within the next 10 years.  How does that even make sense?  How can they make that promise now, every promise they make, they break.  They need to make the necessary cuts no matter how much it hurts, and continue to cut spending every year.  The scope of our government is entirely too large.  We need to cut back on government spending, make the hard decisions, get rid of a lot of our regulations and let private business infiltrate the market and fix our economy.

I am disappointed in Paul Ryan.  I understand that people are worried about things such as the sequester, but we cannot turn our government around if we continue to spend, spend, spend.  I even live in a place that will be heavily impacted by the sequester.  I don't spend more than I make, in fact, I save a lot of my money because I know that there will be times in my life where I need to have money saved up so that I am able to pay my bills if I am in between jobs.  I am being fiscally responsible, I expect my government to be fiscally responsible.  Good thing there will be a chance to primary RINOs and to beat democrats in the upcoming year.

While it is getting increasingly hard to stand strong in the face of the liberal opposition, and the moderate "republicans, it is more important than ever for us to stand together and make our voices heard!

The Hangover at the End of the Campaign Cycle

11/15/2013

In Virginia another election has come to a close.  No matter how many of these I am involved in, it still feels like the worst hangover win or lose.  I was able to see some great Delegates become reelected, I saw a new one step into the role of Delegate and I saw some good friends lose.  That is just how it goes.  I believe that the media played a negative role in the last campaign cycle. I know many people who voted for the Libertarian because they believed that Cuccinelli had no chance of winning.  The libertarian candidate wasn't even a Libertarian.  His belief in the expansion of Medicaid was the biggest indicator of that.  If the media hadn't pushed to show that Ken was going to lose we might have seen a better outcome.

That is not to say that the campaign itself isn't to blame for it's loss.  Instead of standing up and addressing the insults hurled at the Republicans by the McAwful camp, we saw them stand down and let them go.  There are a lot of people who would rather believe a lie than look up the truth for themselves.  This is the reality we are faced with.  We are faced with politicians who spread lies because they can.  The people are either too lazy to check the facts or they have become so cynical that they no longer care.

I am just now coming back from my political hangover and I am more ready than ever to keep fighting.  We need the voice of conservatives all over to stand up and show that they are tired of being told to be quiet and just accept what the establishment wants for us.  I won't stand for Christie being my nominee in 2016.  That is not a reality I can accept.  This is not a party of moderates and they can no longer shove that down our throats.  With the loss of Cuccinelli all of the talk is how we could have won Virginia with a candidate like Bolling.  Bolling was only the lesser of two evils, and I will not stand to see my party let me down over and over again.  It is time to stand up and do something.  It is time to take the party back!

The Make Believe War on Women

10/27/2013

The Democrats are working hard to make women believe that the GOP is waging a war against them.  I am shocked that my fellow females have allowed themselves to be made into fools.  I think we are smarter than that.  We shouldn't just willingly follow what we hear from the talking heads.  We are all capable of looking up, and reading the legislation for ourselves.  We are capable of looking up exactly what happens in abortion.  To me it is murder.  It is a living being inside of your body.  The fact that our bodies can do that is amazing.  We are a part of creating life.

Right now in the Virginia gubernatorial race, all of the ads are about how Ken Cuccinelli is waging a war on women because he wants to ban abortion and the birth control pill.  As a Catholic, of course he doesn't agree with abortion or birth control, but he cannot overturn Roe v. Wade.  He knows that. What he and other Republican legislators have done is work to make clinics that provide abortions safer.  They have made it so these women who make the decision to have an abortion, can do so in a safe environment.  The birth control pill is also something that will not be banned.  That would be like banning the condom.  It is not going to happen.

The democrats have also been putting up posters on college campuses in Virginia saying that Cuccinelli wants to make oral sex illegal.  Really?  Instead of looking up the legislation that we have and the reasons for it, the sheeple just believe what they are being told.  The reason those laws are on the books in Virginia is not to punish consenting adults.  That doesn't happen, it is to punish to the fullest extent those who prey on children.  I am sick of being told the GOP is waging a war against me.  They are not.  I am an adult and I make decisions regarding my body.  I am pro life, pro family and pro freedom.

I am self-reliant.  Maybe that is why I am proud to be a Conservative.  I have been living on my own since I found a job out of college.  Trust me, I know that isn't easy.  Some days are still hard.  There were weeks where I ate peanut butter sandwiches and ramen noodles.  I made it though.  I found a way to save some of the money I was bringing in until I was no longer living paycheck to paycheck.  I am living the American dream.  I am not wealthy, but I am making my way in life.  Everyday I am fighting against the make believe war on women.  We all just need to take the time to get informed.  Read different new sources, check to see how your legislators are voting and what the laws state.  That allows you to make the best choices for yourself when it comes to election day.

Spineless legislators...it's all about re-election

The sad reality of our Congress and other elected officials, is that we are dealing with a group of people who are doing what is best for themselves.  They are building into legislation outrageous sums of money to bring back to their home state.  It is disgusting that instead of working for the good of this country, they work for the good of themselves.  I find it hard to believe that the two billion dollars that is making it's way to Kentucky did not come from Senator McConnell, who is up for re-election in 2014.  I guess is it a good thing he got something to bring back to Kentucky after the debacle of the government shut down. This whole fight that led to the shut down started because of Obamacare.  While I am deeply disappointed that my government is going to fine me if I do not have health insurance, I would be less upset if everyone had to live under the same law.  It is not fair that the average citizen is being forced to purchase something, while some legislators and the President are exempt.  Especially when some men and women are being forced out of their employer insurance because the company can no longer afford it.  I even have friends who work hard at a minimum wage job, without taking handouts, who are going to have their hours cut.  This is going to force them to find another part-time job to make ends meet giving them less time to spend in the home raising their children.  We are continuing to find ways to destroy the family.

I was proud to see Senator Ted Cruz stand up against Congress.  He told his constituents what he planned to do when he got elected into office and that is exactly what he has done.  The government shut down did affect some people, but it was necessary.  I cannot believe the spineless men and women who have been elected into office.  We continue to elect these people time and time again and it is running this country into the ground.  We continue to raise the debt limit, grow our spending, and take away the rights and privacy's of the American people.  This is the country we are now living in.  We are continuing to lose our freedoms daily, we need to wake up!  We need to fight to take our states back.  I will spend every election season working to elect conservative men and women in my state and fight to take my Constitutional freedoms back!  It is more important today than ever to stand up for what is right and for what our Founding Fathers fought to give to us.
