A Balanced Budget Amendment is Not Enough

2/1/2017

Washington is a cesspool.

It routinely tramples on the rights of individuals and encroaches on issues that should be left to the states to decide. The laboratories of democracy have become nothing more than satellite offices of the federal government...

The Executive Branch has assumed legislative and judicial powers by issuing thousands of regulations in which a federal agency assumes the role of judge, jury and executioner. All of this is in direct conflict with the prinicples of separation of powers and checks and balances...

The Supreme Court has taken upon itself the authority to dictate public policy as opposed to interpreting the Constitution as it was originally written. Enshrining judicial activism decisions for years to come...

Career politicians get elected by claiming to have one set of principles then abandon those principles the moment they cross their state lines. With huge campaign war chests they reap the benefits of policies they sow, fertilized with tax payer money...

Some groups and individuals believe that ALL OF THIS is going to be corrected by making sure that expenses equal revenue in the federal budget? I don't think so. Requiring Congress to balance their budget is not enough.

Bolder steps must be taken to return power to its rightful owners: the people.

This is why Rampart Media is proud to endorse the Convention of States Project. This is the only grassroots movement that is offering real solutions to the problems our nation face. And that solution is simple: an Article V Convention of States for the purpose of imposing fiscal restraints on the federal government, reducing the jurisdiction and scope of the federal government, and term limits.

I encourage you to watch the below video and then sign up to volunteer with the Convention of States here

The founders of this country gave us a way to fight back against an all powerful central government. Let's use it.

To Hell with Senate Democrats

1/4/2017

Senate Republicans should force every Conservative Trump nominee down the throats of the Senate Democrats by using Democrats' own rules:
Washington (CNN)Sen. Chuck Schumer lamented Tuesday the Democrats' move to diminish the number of senators needed to confirm Cabinet picks from 60 votes to 51, because the new rule now hurts his party.
Harry Reid (thank God he retired) changed the Senate rules in 2013 to allow Cabinet nominees to be confirmed with 51 instead of 60. As to be expected, the left is now completely reversing course- again. See this great piece by Patterico over at RedState documenting the continued flip flopping.

Republicans need to hold the line and make sure strong Constitutionalists are appointed.

2017- Rampart Returns

How time flies. I can't believe my last post was over two years ago; time really does have a way of getting away from you.

Here it is, 2017 and Donald J. Trump will be sworn in as President of the United States in a few weeks. It is because of this that I decided to return to posting here in the blog section. This is going to be a big year. No doubt the political fighting will be rough and tumble. The left has never been more radicalized and violent and will use any means necessary to undermine his presidency. They have attacked the legitmacy of President-Elect Trump at every turn (yep, they were the ones that were concerned that TRUMP wouldn't accept the outcome of the election. Hypocrites all).

It is with thought that I decided to return to posting. I'm unsure what type of president The Donald will be. He has some great policy proposals and others that are not so great. When he is right and his actions support conservatism he should be defended. When he is wrong and lurches left he should be criticized. I'm not going to support something just because Donald Trump proposes it. I'll leave that immaturity to the leftists.

For this first post of 2017, I wanted to issue a re-statement of the philosophy that I believe in as well as some general policy positions that I hold:

Philosphy

All rights come from our Creator.

The government that governs best governs least and closest to the people. Everytime government expands or or acts outside its constitutional bounds individual liberty is lost. Hence, government needs to be constrained to the limits of the Constitution.

The Consitution needs to be interpreted through an originalist interpretation. Otherwise, it becomes meaningless, subjected to the political whims of Justices.

Free markets lead to freedom and prosperity. Government programs do not. Capitalism allows people to pursue their own interests and keep the fruits of their labor. We are only on this earth for a small amount of time. During that time, we work. If what we earn is taken from us, then we become nothing more than mere servants of the state.

We all have decsisions to make. Taxpayers shouldn't have to bail people out of their bad decisions.

Policy Positions

Pro-Life
Pro-Second Amendment
Pro-Right to Work and against forced unionism
Pro-School Choice
Supports either the Flat Tax or the Fair Tax.
Supports ending the Federal Income Tax and all Death Taxes
Supports the Article V Convention of States
Repeal Obamacare

Here's hoping President Trump will advance the cause of liberty and rein in the federal government and return power to its proper place.

Judicial Watch releases emails showing that the White House concocted the "it was a video" lie.

Representative Jason Chaffetz takes the White House to task after testimony completely debunks the White House's lie:
Jon Karl takes on Jay Carney. Carney says the Benghazi email wasn't about Benghazi:
Judicial Watch says Carney's response is "criminal."

Sharyl Attkssion wraps it all up.

Ben Sasse for Nebraska

This country is in dire straits.

We have an uncontrollable debt, an abominable healthcare law, trillions of dollars in unfunded liabilities with Medicare and Social Security, a populace growing ever more dependent on government spending, and a Constitution that is constantly being undermined and outright ignored.

If that wasn't bad enough, we have inept, cowardly Republican leaders in Washington, DC. The go-along-to-get-along-John McCain-Mitch McConnell-Lamar Alexander-Lindsey Graham-Republicans stand on soft ground that is ever shifting. They routinely insult the conservative grass roots and Tea Party movment. When push comes to shove, (whether it be cutting spending or defunding Obamacare) they get pushed and shoved by the Democrats every single time. Voting for someone just because they have an "R" next to their name is not good enough anymore.......

For Constitutionalists, free market supporters, and limited government defenders, we need leaders in Washington that will do more than pay lip service to these values. We need leaders who will actually fight for these principles at every turn. Ted Cruz needs reinforcements. Mitch McConnell does not.

Ben Sasse is running for the United States Senate from Nebraska. Dr. Sasse is a proven problem solver. He is the president of Midland University in Nebraska and brought that college from near closure to the state's fastest growing university.

Prior to that Dr. Sasse worked for the Boston Consulting Group and McKinsey and Company. During this time, he helped business leaders during crises.
He was an Assistant Secretary of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services so he has first hand knowledge of the financial condition that the country is in when it comes to entitlement spending.

When it comes to the issues, he is rock solid:

  • Repeal Obamacare
  • Reaffirm Constitutional First Principles
  • The right to keep and bear arms is a God-given individual right
  • National debt and deficit is due to too much spending
  • Cut taxes and regulations
  • The border must be secured. Period.
I wholeheartedly support Dr. Sasse as the next United States Senator from Nebraska. If you are able, please consider making a donation to his campaign. Regardless of what state you live in, Dr. Sasse can represent you.

Disgusting: Lamar Alexander Uses Veteran to Push False Narrative

This really bothers me.

On January 28th, Lamar Alexander's campaign website ran an article entitled, "
A Tennessee Veteran Sets the Record Straight." In it, a U.S. Army Veteran defends Lamar Alexander's role in the last budget battle that ultimately led to the passage of Ryan-Murray. The author of the article says Alexander isn't to blame:
