SEAL Team 6 member- Bullhorns instead of bullets

I have been reading "No Easy Day" by Mark Owen.  This is the autobiography of one of the Navy Seals who was part of SEAL Team 6 the day they killed Bin Laden. In the book, the author talks about how the rules of war changed and how the enemy adapted to exploit these rules. He never makes a political statement about them. I will.

First, an excerpt. These were Owen's reflections on the rules of engagement in the spring of 2011 (pg 140-142):

"Everything in Afghanistan was getting harder. It seemed with every rotation we had new requirements or restrictions. It took pages of PowerPoint slides to get a mission approved. Lawyers and staff officers poured over the details on every page, making sure our plan was acceptable to the Afghan government.............

For years, we had been sneaking into compounds, catching fighters by surprise.

Not anymore.

.....we were slapped with a new requirement......After surrounding a building, and interpreter had to get on a bullhorn and yell for the fighters to come out with their hands raised.......If we found guns, we arrested the fighters only to see them go free a few months later.

It felt like we were fighting the war with one hand and filing out paperwork with the other. When we brought back detainees, there was an additional two to three hours of paperwork. The first question to the detainee at the base was always, "Were you abused?" An affirmative answer meant an investigation and more paperwork.

And the enemy had figured out the rules,

Their tactics evolved as fast as ours. On my earlier deployments, they stood and fought. On more recent deployments, they started hiding their weapons, knowing we couldn't shoot them if they weren't armed. The fighters knew the rules of engagement and figured they'd work their way through the system and be back to their village in a few days.

If was frustrating. We knew what we were sacrificing at home; we were willing to give that up to do the job on our terms. As more rules were applied, it became harder to justify taking the risk to our lives. The job was becoming more about an exit strategy than doing the right thing tactically."

Who was president in 2011? Who was Secretary of State? Does anyone doubt that these regulations came from the pantywaist Obama administration?

Asking if they were abused? Asking them to come out with their hands up? Not being able to shoot if they hide their guns?

Are you kidding me?

These people have got to go.

Voting for Obama for the first time = losing your virginity? Seriously, this is an actual ad put out by the Obama campaign:
Although, they might have a point that the two are similar. In both cases, someone is getting screwed.

CBS's Dull Hatchet Job on Romney

If you are drinking anything, be sure to swallow it before you continue reading.

The media/liberals are beside themselves because of Obama's poor performance in the debate last week. (Al Gore blamed Denver's high altitude for Obama's dismal performance)

When the excuses didn't work, CBS tried a different strategy: Mitt Romney cheated.  On the Friday after the debate, a CBS affiliate in Washington published a story proudly proclaiming: Upon Further Review: Mitt Romney May Have Cheated To Win The Debate

The evidence?

"A review of the debate tape reveals that, apparently, Mitt Romney needed a cheat sheet to keep the lies straight.

The rules of the presidential debates are clear about not bringing outside notes and presidents and aspirants have followed the rule for decades.

Video of the first eleven seconds of the debate available on YouTube shows Mitt Romney reaching into his pocket at the moment he is out of view of those in front of him, he used the lectern as a shield, and removing what appears to be folded papers from his pocket."

Wow, looks like CBS has busted Mitt. I mean there is video evidence! But wait! There is an update to the story.

"Update:

The evidence seems to indicate it was a handkerchief. So there you have it folks. The mystery seems to have been solved."

This was no "mystery." This was a desperate attempt to try and deflect the attention from Obama's pathetic performance.  We all know what this was.
